Canada’s largest Mentorship & Training Program for Black Filmmakers
Part of the Fabienne Colas Foundation’s Youth and Diversity Program, Being Black in Canada was created to make up for the blatant lack of Black People in front and behind the camera in Canada. It gives a voice and a platform to creators who would not otherwise be seen or heard. In 2022, the program enabled 27 young Black Filmmakers (from Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Halifax), to create 27 shorts docs which will tour festivals and be broadcast on National Television.

The 15 films have been presented at the Montreal International Black Film Festival, the Toronto Black Film Festival, the Halifax Black Film Festival and others.
