Job Purpose

Works closely with the Social Media Coordinator to create engaging content to build a captivating social media presence for seven of our brands (six Black film festivals across Canada, as well as the Being Black In Canada filmmaking mentorship program), as well as contribute to the development of our social media and brand strategies, take ownership over profile and engagement management, and complete post scheduling duties.

 

Job Duties

  • Manages day-to-day engagement and communications on social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) for our seven brands, using Loomly
  • Creates dynamic written, graphic, and video content that promotes audience interaction, increases audience presence on brand websites, and encourages audience participation
  • Assists social media management with developing: annual timelines and schedules; social media campaigns; online brand identities; strategic social media plans
  • Analyzes and reports on key social media analytics on a monthly basis, making suggestions on where/how to improve, using analytical reporting in Loomly as well as on individual platforms
  • Prepares reports on the success of social media campaigns, using analytical reporting in Loomly as well as on individual platforms
  • Using Loomly, creates and maintains an editorial calendar and an ever-green calendar of post ideas, actively proposing new ideas and concepts for social media content
  • Writes engaging blog articles for brand websites
  • Analyzing, managing, and altering schedules where necessary to optimize results

Job Skills & Qualifications

The following qualifications and skills are integral to fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the Social Media Assistant Coordinator:

  • Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, or similar relevant field would be preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with organizational social media accounts (in any capacity, eg. as a volunteer)
  • “A nose for news” – you know a good share when you see it, because you know what will keep our audiences engaged
  • Extremely strong creative writing skills and/or experience creating social media content
  • Well-versed in netiquette and building positive relationships online
  • Experience using Google Documents and Sheets/Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Organized with great time management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

The following qualities or experiences would be assets in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the Social Media Assistant Coordinator:

  • Experience using Loomly social media management platform
  • Experience with social media content management and/or file management
  • Experience with strategic planning (doesn’t have to be in social media/communications)
